I saw that recently and just loved it.  So if you need a daily fix of eco warrior here’s a site for you;

The Daily Green

Neat

A group of professional housecleaners in the Boston area got together and started a co-op to make their own environmentally friendly and safe house cleaners.  Cool!

Strawberries Galore!!!

YEAH!  Its strawberry season!  One of my favorite times of year.  We get a quart of freshly picked strawberries in our CSA (Consumer Supported Agriculture) box each week.  My son looks forward to it, as do I.

Here is some fabulous information about how wonderfully healthy strawberries are (but please buy organic, they are one of the most heavily sprayed crops);

Bisphenol A link

Thanks to Kimb’ for sharing this very important link on Bisphenol A;

You know you’re having a bad week when….

My 8 year old scolded me for buying paper plates and then lectured me on the environmental impact of the purchase.

Okay, so I don’t usually buy them but we were having a birthday party and I don’t have enough plates for dinner AND cake for everyone.  I buy them very infrequently and we use them up and don’t buy them again until the next birthday.  I guess I’ll have to figure something else out, like buy an extra set up inexpensive plates.

Paperback Swap

Have you heard of this?  It is really cool. You can swap out your old paperback books (and now I think hard covers as well) for ones you have not read FOR FREE! Its a great way to recycle and reuse instead of buying all those books you want to read.  If you’re like me, you go through ALOT of books in a year.  This is so cool on so many levels. Check it out;  Paperback Swap

If you sign up (something you won’t regret)  remember to use my email in the referral section, as I get a credit;  mcginley at wahmhost dot net

What’s in your Bottled Water?

EWG (Environmental Working Group) want to find out.  So they are starting their Bottled Water Project.  To help them out, you can submit your bottled water info (What brand? Where did you purchase it? How much did you pay?What type of container?) here;  http://www.ewg.org/issues/bottledwater/index.php

If you help them out NOW (first 1,000, I believe) you’ll get their free pesticde wallet card AND a fridge magnet!

Bisphenol A

Okay, so it seems there’s so much in the news as of late on this chemical that certain toy/baby bottle manufacturers and retail stores are petitioning to continue to use in products we expose our newborns to.  I’ll just keep adding links to this entry, this one below summarizes the current research.
