I've been here in NC for 2 years now and I've never seen a centipede.  I'm guessing that they do exist here but so far haven't seen a one.  I saw them all the time in NJ...in our basement.  There aren't many basements here in NC.  Hope that helps.</description>

		<description>Hmm...not sure what the "ha" is trying to imply there but I took your advice and did more research.  Its so hard to identify these things at times.  

Banana spiders in the US are NOT poisonous, it is actually another term for Orb Weavers.  BUT I don't think this is (or was) an orb weaver now.  I think it is a Cross Spider once known as a "McKinley spider".  It would have been too funny if that K was a G, heh?

It has all the traits, the zigzag, the sitting on her web in an X form, the shaking to warn us to stay back, etc.  

OH btw....South American Brown Banana Spiders ARE poisonous.  I hope we don't have any here in the US but I'm sure they'll find their way here.</description>
